Kent 3 - CPFC 3 -  Away Friendly

The week started with the team having their first full training session. The training session was fun and it was great to see the whole team getting on so well. During the session we worked on passing and possession drills, with a match towards the end. The skill level was high across the pitch and I’m excited to see how the team will progress throughout the season.

We had a bye in our ESFA National Cup so we played Crystal Palace U14 in a friendly fixture. This is my current club, and knowing the team I knew it would be a tough and competitive game.

Crystal Palace started strong and we found ourselves 1-0 down, then gave away a penalty shortly after to make it 2-0. I thought we were still in the game and didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down as we were putting in a strong fight. The team kept their heads up and started to dominate the game. We then scored from a corner with Beatrice Lockyer scoring from close range.  Beatrice scored soon after with a great shot from outside the box to make the score 2-2.

Into the last quarters of the game the Kent girls were getting stronger and stronger putting the Crystal Palace team under a lot of pressure and creating a lot of chances. We knew Crystal Palace were strong when attacking and they scored a good goal from the wing to make it 3-2, although after getting our two goals back we were the stronger side.

The team persevered and didn’t let our heads go down and we were playing some nice football and maintaining possession. We levelled the game, 3-3 by passing and playing around them. Goal scorer, Chidimma Nwokedi.  We finished strong and the game ended 3-3.

I was very proud to be the captain Kent for this match and also proud of every single girl who played this game, as we fought from start to finish and put 110% in.
