Hampshire vs Kent U15 – Saturday 1st February 2020

We arrived in Hampshire after a long drive knowing that a point would secure first place in the league for us and put us into a good place for the semi-finals.

We started strongly and quickly and won a number of corners in the first few minutes and put the pressure on Hampshire.  This helped us and after about 10 minutes Harvey Welford was put through by Ronald Sithole and calmly slotted the ball in the bottom corner to make it 1-0 to Kent.  After this, Hampshire seemed to wake up and started playing some nice football and forced Alex Nika to make a brilliant save which he tipped over the bar.  We kept playing our football and had a few chances of our own but went into half time 1-0 up.

The second half kicked off and Hampshire started strongly playing good football and seemed to be the better side as they applied pressure and tried to nick a goal.  However, we defended well and kept them out.  We had a few chances to put the game to bed and was unlucky when Ryan Gill’s header crashed against the bar.  Unfortunately, 4 minutes from time, Hampshire got the equaliser with a well hit volley making it 1-1.  The final whistle went soon after and a draw was a fair result with neither team deserving to lose in a fairly equal game.  This meant that we have topped our league group and will now play the team who finishes second in the other league in the semi-final.

Thanks again to our families who travelled down to support us and as always thanks to James and Chris.
