Under 15’s defeat Inner London SFA to reach South East England Final

On Saturday 25th March, the under 15’s faced Inner London SFA in the SEESFA semi-final at Simon Langton Boys’ Grammar School. Early dominance from Kent, led to them being given a somewhat controversially penalty after Kobi Bowers had rounded the goalkeeper and was taken down, yet still managed to get up and score. Admirably the referee admitted to his mistake and should have let the goal stand however, his decision stood and a penalty had to be awarded. Unfortunately, the spot kick was well saved by the Inner London goalkeeper. As typical as football is, Kent then conceded a goal. After continual long balls from the Inner London team attempting to utilise the power and pace they had upfront, coupled with the strong wind conditions, Kent conceded a header from a cross. However this only rallied Kent further and from a corner the ball was bundled in by Jack Gallagher to equalise.

In the second half, Kent started brightly and again dominated possession in large spells whilst restricting Inner London to very limited opportunities. Several excellent opportunities for Kent could not see them take the lead despite Josh Ladlow hitting the post from an excellent move, a clear one-on-one was spurned and an outrageous save from an Ollie Farmer header. Eventually Kent got the breakthrough - good work on the right side from Luis Dos Santos led to Dylan Tubb jumping highest to head in. Kent continued to dominate and when Dylan Tubb again found himself free in the box, he calmly slotteded home Kent’s third and put the game out of reach for Inner London. Only a couple of free kicks threatened Kent as the game went on to the closing stages and excellent goalkeeping from Ted McDonald and the well marshalled defence, led superbly by Baily Sinnock, gave Inner London little opportunity in getting back in the game.

Kent look forward to playing Surrey SFA, who defeated Bedfordshire SFA in the other semi-final, in the U15 SEESFA final and are eagerly awaiting details of the date and venue.
