U14 KENT SCHOOLS vs CAMBRIDGESHIRE

8th DECEMBER 2018

We arrived at Thamesmead Town knowing that today’s game was a must win game.  If we won we would be through to the quarter finals of the National Cup but our opposition for today were going to be a good Cambridgeshire side.

We started the game strongly winning the first balls and pressing high and around ten minutes in our tactics worked as our strikers put pressure on the keeper and Joseph Terry was there to finish it off and put us 1-0 up.  We continued to press high however we found it difficult to keep the ball and play football but although we were not playing our best, at half time we were still in the lead.

The second half began and we started better than our opponents and soon went 2-0 up when Harvey Welford crossed for Jack Vine to score.  We started playing some better football however were lacking the final pass through until Elliott Nimmo put in a lovely cross for Harvey Welford to make it 3-0 to Kent.  Our goal keeper, Henry Sworder, and defenders Bradley Mitchell, Ryan Gill and Alfie Sanders had been strong all day and kept a clean sheet.  The final whistle went, we had won 3-0 and Kent are into the quarter finals of the National Cup.
