Under 12's v Sussex SFA

Sussex v Kent U12s 21st December, 2021

On arrival, we found that we were playing on half of a main pitch and had less width than normal, but when we warmed up we were starting to focus.

During the first period we had some good possession on the ball and had a solid backline with good energy.

At the start of the second period we had dropped our energy a bit but were still playing well. In the last 8 minutes of the period the ball had just squeezed through our backline and Sussex crossed the ball and got a tap in.

At the start of the 3rd we had been pressing really well and then Finley got a great volley to equalise for us. In the last part of the period the ball had been getting through our backline, but our wingers were getting back and helping clear it out.

In the last quarter everyone was tiring and we were not playing like we had. Sussex had two fairly decent balls played and ended up scoring twice in two minutes which was unlucky. We had some good counter attacks but could not make the final passes on goal. We got really close to scoring but we just couldn't break through. Their keeper made some brilliant saves, although so did ours. Hopefully next time!
