Under 11's v Sussex SFA

Tuesday, 14th February 2023

We began the game strongly using our wide players well like we worked on in training. Everything was going well until we conceded from a through ball behind our defence. However, we kept our heads up and scored a goal to level the tie again, the goal came from a shot that was spilled by the keeper and Vinnie punished that by tapping it in.

At the start of the second quarter, we were playing very well and determined to score. Our dreams came true a few minutes later with Louie netting a brace in quick succession. We kept attacking and attempting to score. We succeeded in this on a counterattack with Dexter approaching the box and being fouled upon his arrival. He took his penalty very well placing it in the left-side netting of the goal. This wasn’t the last of our success in this quarter as we worked the ball to the by line and Freddie cut it back to Ben waiting on the edge of the box to make it 5-1.

The third quarter commenced with both teams desperate to score, creating chance after chance. However, after an unmissable, thrilling 20 minutes it ended goalless. Nevertheless, the football being played was at a very competitive and high standard. Many things worked on in training were shown in this quarter but unfortunately, no chances were taken.

At the foundation of this period, we came out of the blocks flying, we were playing extraordinary football with lots of intricate passes. After a few chances, we had something to show for it with Rhys finishing a chance given to him with a cross-in from the wide and a nice finish. At the halfway stage Ben and Rylan entered the field both coming on to score making the end result 8-1.
