U12 Boys vs Sussex
Saturday, 16th March 2019
Kent started the game very well with a great attitude to try and score an early goal . As the the result of this attitude, Oliver Driscoll played a lovely ball to the feet of Jayden Nye and Jayden drove at the defenders . After beating two of the players, he set Harry Waldock in on goal who took the ball past two other players and placed the ball into the top corner . As a result of Kent getting a clean sheet in this quarter, Harvey Jackson made a vital tackle on a Sussex player through on goal. After an early goal , Kent dominated the first quarter .
The second quarter was a tighter affair as our goalkeeper, Kayden Abnett, and our defenders, Oliver Driscoll, Brandon Barrance and Leon Cole were outstanding as they were very strong and no goals were conceded . The best Kent opportunity in this quarter was a sweet strike from the edge of the area by Riston Nkounko which went just wide . Also, Jimmy Heasman provided a number of opportunities down the right wing but also never forgot his defensive duties.
The third quarter was a dominant Kent performance in all areas of the pitch . Carter Sullivan kept a clean sheet with some very good saves. After Harry Clout worked the ball very well past two Sussex players , he played the ball into the path of Ben Clark who hit a great strike which was palmed out into the path of Jecy Edorh to finish nicely into the back of the net . A couple of minutes later, Ben Clark regained possession on the edge of the Sussex box to then hit a wonderful strike into the bottom left corner.
For the fourth quarter Sussex put on a lot of pressure and brought the game back to the 3-:2 after a decision for a penalty by the referee over a ‘handball’. Straight from Kent conceding the second goal Max O Neil took the ball down from a great pass who then dribbled past two Sussex players and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper . All in all another excellent Kent performance and a special shout-out to an injured Hugo Taylor for coming along to support his fellow teammates .
