A second-half hat-trick from Johan Caney-Bryan saw Kent win the SE Regional Under 18 Cup to bring down the curtain on an excellent season. Opponents Inner London were swept aside by a fine performance of flowing football from Kent on an excellent playing surface at Chelsea’s training ground at Cobham.
A feature of Kent’s season has been a settled team in which nine players were involved in all ten matches. Just a narrow 2-3 defeat to Shropshire in the quarter-finals of the ESFA National Cup spoiled Kent’s 100% record. That competition was won by Sussex, who Kent comprehensively beat 6-0 – so we can justifiably claim to have been the best county team in the country this season!
In the other SE Final played at Chelsea’s training round, the Kent Under 16’s narrowly lost 0-1 to Surrey, just their third defeat in 13 games this season.
