The Kent Schools’ Under 18 Squad, reigning National Champions, got the new season off to a good start against the Kent FA at Corinthians FC. Despite going 0-2 down early on the KSFA side came back to take the trophy in a nine goal thriller.
The Kent FA raced into an early two goal lead with both goals coming from corners, but the KSFA struck back almost immediately when Ellis Iandolo (Maplesden Noakes School) played through pass for the impressive Kane Butler (Maidstone GS) to slot the ball home. Kent FA then restored their two goal lead, but the KSFA reduced the arrears with another well-taken goal from Butler.
In the second half the KSFA began to dominate and drew level when Butler blocked a clearance and headed the ball home to register his hat-trick. Shortly afterwards a corner saw Butler send another header into the net. This was soon followed by the FA side equalising when a penalty kick was well saved by Ben Kitcherside (Howard School), only for the ball to be prodded home from the rebound.
This brought the scoreline to 4-4, and then just before the final whistle Butler slotted home his fifth goal of the night to give the KSFA victory.
