After impressing in the SEESFA league, the Kent U15 squad were invited to play Brighton & Hove Albion FC U15s at their fantastic new training complex in Lancing, Sussex. The game took place inside their dome on a smaller pitch. The Kent side started well and scored early on with a driven shot from Jack Gallagher. Brighton grew into the game and started to put good passing patterns together and equalised from a well worked move. However this spurred Kent on and two further goals, one from Kobi Bowers and one expertly created by Luis Dos Santos and finished by Jack Gallagher, meant that Kent went in at half time with a 3-1 lead. With Kent utilising 18 squad members on the night so all had the opportunity of the experience, this meant 7 changes at half time. Brighton scored early in the second half from a well taken free-kick, but yet again this rallied a response from Kent. A technically and tactically well taken goal was scored which was worked from the back to front and finished by a fine strike from distance by Marcus Hinge put Kent back into control. Brighton started to come back into the game but a goal from Saul Musengeyi and a Jack Gallagher goal, from left back to complete his hat-trick, sealed the 6-4 win.
Brighton staff were highly complementary after the game, not just about the win but by the manner of the squads performance individually and collectively. All players thoroughly enjoyed the excellent experience and are looking forward to finding out who their opponents will be in the upcoming semi-final of the SEESFA competition. A special thanks to parents/carers & family for taking the long journey down on a week night – your support is always very much appreciated.
