An excellent weekend for Kent saw four county teams in action, and resulted in three wins and a draw. On Friday evening at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium, Kent Under 18’s put on a fine display of attacking football to defeat Surrey 5-1 and move into the next round of the ESFA National Inter-County trophy. Two goals from last season’s England international James O’Halloran led the way, and there were further strikes from Billy Lewins, Theo Osufalarin and Jarcel Bindu-Kamara before Surrey scored a late consolation.
Not to be outdone, Kent Under 16’s triumphed 7-1 over Oxfordshire in the ESFA competition. On the 3G surface at Simon Langton Grammar School, Kent raced into a 3-0 lead before half-time, and although Oxfordshire opened the scoring in the second period, a further four goals from the home side completed a convincing victory. Kent’s scorers were George Robinson with a hat-trick, Ike Bignell (2), Ben Allen and Sam McCullum.
The Kent Under 14 and Under 15 squads travelled to Middlesex for games in the SE competition. In the Under 14 game, a goal by Morant Reid looked like it would be enough to give Kent all three points, but a very late equaliser gave Middlesex a 1-1 draw. Jack Gallagher scored a hat-trick for the Under 15’s as they triumphed 4-0 to continue their fine start to the season. Ibrahim Atomanson scored Kent’s other goal.
