The opening inter-county fixtures of the season saw Kent play Hertfordshire in three age groups at the Kent Sports Club in Gravesend.with Kent winning the Under 14 and Under 15 games convincingly, but losing narrowly in the Under 16 contest.
The Kent Under 14's, playing together for the first time, scored four without reply, with the goals coming from Harry Jakubait, Elliott Cutts, and two from Joe Halford. In the Under 15 game, a late consolation goal from Hertfordshire failed to dent Kent's superiority, with the home side already deservedly three goals ahead through Dylan Damonse, Robert Pratt and Merkan Yerlikaya. The Kent Under 16's dominated for long periods in their match, but only had a Joel Attwood penalty to show for their efforts.
Meanwhile, in the Under 11 age group, 24 district 7-a-sides teams, together with over 300 parents and other supporters, descended on the Marathon Ground in Greenwich for the Kent Finals of the ESFA's national competition. An exciting series of games saw Orpington edge into the South-East Regional Final, courtesy of a penalty shoot-out against Medway, while in the final of the plate competition, Shepway beat West Kent 2-0.
