On Monday 4th February and Tuesday 5th February, Medway Park Sports Centre played host to the annual Kent Schools Futsal Finals. The competition, delivered in partnership with the Kent FA and the Kent School Games Organisers, forms part of the FA’s youth Futsal competition pathway, which culminates in July with the FA National Youth Futsal Festival.
Each of the teams at the Kent Schools Futsal Finals began their journey in October last year, having qualified for the county finals by winning regional competitions delivered by their local School Games Organiser.
46 teams and over 350 players attended the finals over the two days and winning schools were as follows:
- U12 Boys – The Howard School (Medway)
- U12 Girls – Highworth Grammar School (Ashford)
- U14 Boys – Westlands School (Sittingbourne)
- U14 Girls – Rainham School for Girls (Medway)
- U16 Boys – Charles Dickens School (Thanet)
- U16 Girls – Rainham School for Girls (Medway)
A special mention must go to Rainham School for Girls, who very nearly managed a clean sweep of the girls’ events, only being denied by Highworth Grammar School in the final of the U12 Girls event.
Each of the winners will now be hoping to go one better than last year’s Hayesbrook School U12 Boys, who after winning the Kent Schools Futsal Finals in 2012, not only went on to win the FA South East Regional competition, but eventually finished as runners up in the FA National Youth Futsal Festival.
